It has been attracting customers from around the world, all walks of life, and all ages for over 50 years. It is not unusual to see four generations of families sitting at a table reminiscing about their first visit to this famous landmark. Arthur’s was first started in 1957 by the “Legendary Restaurant Man”, Arthur McGreevy. The first Arthur’s in those days was the Brook Tavern in Morris Plains, New Jersey. In 1985, Arthur fulfilled his dream of turning the Brook Tavern into a famous Steakhouse that everyone could afford and enjoy. His concept was born from his memories of The Tavern Restaurant in Newark, and Ma Flynn’s in Whippany, both of which he frequented as a young man with his Father-in- Law, Charlie Wille. Charlie was Arthur’s mentor. He owned a famous restaurant “Charlie Wille’s Place” located in Orange, NJ during the Prohibition Era, and Llewellyn Farms. Arthur combined his memories of the great taste of the food and warm, friendly neighborhood establishments, and thus Arthur’s Tavern was born!

The décor of the Arthur’s Taverns is quite unique with its red and white checked tablecloths, hanging bottle lighting fixtures, mirrors, the neon bar signs and the hundreds of pictures of customers and famous people taken over the years that line every wall….
